Ireland, Part 2: Donegal

This, Solis Lough Eske, is the second castle where we were lucky enough to be able to stay. This hotel was absolutely stunning and was our favorite by far.The grounds were really pretty, complete with fountains, gardens, and the original rock walls that surrounded the castle.

Me and Joe standing out front of our hotel enjoying every minute of the splendor and history of this place.

We drove by this port with a ton of really colorful boats on the way to Slieve League, some of the highest sea cliffs in all of Ireland. These next two pictures are from one of the photo stops on the way to the top of the cliffs.

Unfortunately, we got a little lost and never did see Slieve League from where you're supposed to see the cliffs. Fortunately, however, we ended up on the far side of them and were able to actually walk down to the edge of the cliffs and saw some pretty amazing views. It was actually pretty funny because I was really excited to be able to walk down to the edge of the cliff (which was actually a relatively far walk) and Joe was getting really nervous that I was going to slip and fall over the edge. Talk about role reversals that day!

Kind of leaves you speechless, right? It was a hundred times more awe-inspiring in person... if you can believe that!

This one and the next photo are of Donegal Castle, which we didn't get to go in because it was closed by the time we got there (everything closes so early in Ireland!) and the one following that is of a Church of Ireland, Donegal parish (almost every church we saw was very old and very charming... beautiful).

Joe took this last photo from the window in the hallway outside of our room at sunset. Just gorgeous.

I'm sorry this is such a long post but I just want to let you all know that I am trying really hard not to post every picture that we took and that for every one picture posted, I'm eliminating about 10!

Have a wonderful day and enjoy the scenery!
