Orange Crush

I wore this outfit over the weekend to a birthday dinner with my family for my Grandmom. I think this outfit is a good combination of fun and class... with the bright orange and playful stripes of the dress and the classic navy blazer and nude heels, you can really wear this anywhere (I've also worn this to a daytime wedding). I added the leopard clutch for an extra dose of pattern and interest (after all, it was a party... and leopard goes with everything...right?). Do you have a favorite leopard print item?

I'm so happy that it's almost the weekend... I'm ready for some R&R... hopefully :) Joe and I stayed up late last night doing housework so that we won't have to worry about it over the weekend... I feel so much better when I can cross things off my to do list!

Happy Thursday loves!

Floral Maxi

I'm loving the maxi skirts this season... and we all already know about my obsession with floral prints... so when I found this floral maxi I had to have it. I also really like the soft colors against the contrasting black background... its sweet but not overly so :) I played up that not so sweet feeling by adding a clunky watch, a striped tee (instead of a flowy blouse), and flats (as opposed to girly heels). What is your favorite print this season? Florals, stripes, something more geometric?

Olive & Coral

This is a color combination that never really crossed my mind until I was trying to find something to pair with these heels that I haven't worn in forever... there are threads of a pink-ish color running through these shoes so I thought I'd try them out with this bright skirt and, luckily, it worked! I have more bold colors in my closet than neutrals so I'm always trying to think of different color combinations so that I can keep changing up the look of a particular piece (remember this look?). Do you have any go to or unique color combinations that you love?

Brights

I love the color combination of mint and coral... actually, I love mint with anything. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite shades of green, so much so that I actually have to force myself to stop buying it and look at other color choices (don't be surprised if you soon see me in mint from head to toe on a regular basis!)!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! We had a very busy one but it turned out to be really nice :) Thanks for reading and have a great Monday!

Bacon-Cheese Quiche

I actually made this quiche for dinner last night... it was the first time I've ever made quiche (Joe loves it!) but I think it turned out pretty tasty :) I like this recipe because it is simple and, though I stuck pretty much to the original recipe this time, I think there are a lot of future possibilities for this quiche (I think I'll add some spinach or bell peppers next time!)! Also, I wouldn't use as much salt as the recipe suggests... I think that an extra pinch of sea salt is all that is necessary (the bacon and Gruyere gives it enough flavor... and you add salt to the onion while it is cooking).

Recipe from Martha Stewart

Ingredients:

Flour (for rolling... I skipped this step)
1 homemade or store-bought single-crust pie dough (I used store-bought)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 cups yellow onion, diced
Coarse salt and ground pepper (I used sea salt)
6 large eggs
3/4 cup heavy cream
3/4 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly flour a rolling pin and work surface and roll out dough to a 12-inch round (again, I skipped this step and just unrolled the dough directly into the pie pan). Place in a 9-inch pie plate, fold overhang under, and crimp the edges. Place a sheet of parchment paper over the dough and fill with pie weights or dried beans (I didn't do this either as I didn't have any parchment paper... I baked mine for about 15 minutes and kept a close eye on it... it seemed to work out just fine, only turning out maybe a little browner than it should have been). Bake until edge is dry and light golden, about 20 minutes. Remove parchment paper and weights.

In the meantime, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and season with salt and pepper, cooking until light golden, about 8 to 10 minutes. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs and cream together. Add onion, bacon, and cheese, and season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper (here is where I don't think you need that much salt, in fact, I don't think you need more than a pinch). Mix together, pour into crust, and bake until center of quiche is just set, 40 to 45 minutes (I only baked mine for about 35 and it was more than done... just keep an eye on it). Server warm or at room temperature.

This works really well with a leafy green salad. Also, there is a cook's note on the site that says the quiche can be stored, tightly covered, in the refrigerator for up to 3 days (ours is already gone!). To reheat, cover with foil and bake for about 15 minutes at 325 degrees.

I hope you all have a great weekend! Ours is going to be really busy... I hope you get to enjoy some downtime and some sunshine :)

Leopard on Leopard

I really like the leopard on leopard here :) I'm also loving these wedges I snagged at Target for only $15 (they're super comfortable, too!)! I've been trying to be good lately since we're going to Ireland in less than a month (and I am sure I will have to buy quite a few items to accommodate my packing list for that)... so I was really excited about getting these on sale! I'm also currently obsessed with these strappy sandals, these floral jeans, this baseball cap, and this striped skirt!

Every week when Thursday rolls around, I think about how fast the week went by... and here we are again and I'm thinking the same thing except I'm also thinking that I can't believe it's May already! We have a busy weekend this time... you know how I like my free weekends! Do you have any exciting plans?

❤Britt

P.S.
I will probably be asking you all this a few times over the next month, but if anyone has been to Ireland and has any suggestions on what to pack I'd be extremely grateful!

Monochrome in Mint

I wore this to my sister's engagement party over the weekend :) Aside from wanting to try the monochromatic look again (and green is the color I have the most of in my closet... which is the reason I was pretty successful here), my sister chose green for the color of her wedding (we're wearing different shades of green!). It's also worth noting (as if I haven't already done so multiple times before) that green is my favorite color :)
